JCBA Competition Structure

Bronze Division – Entry-Level Development

The Bronze Division is designed for beginner and entry-level players who are just learning the fundamentals of basketball.

• Modified competition formats (ie. 3x3, 5x5 no violations) will be used to ensure games are safe, supportive, and non-threatening.

• The emphasis will be on teaching the game, building confidence, and introducing competitive play** in a developmental environment.

• This level ensures every new player and team has an accessible entry point into the JCBA system.

Silver Division – Showcase Competition

The Silver Division is where players and teams transition into more structured competition.

• Teams will participate in JCBA-sanctioned one-day showcases across the island.

• Each showcase will feature various age groups (U8–U21, boys and girls) depending on sign-ups.

• Teams are guaranteed two games per showcase, giving athletes valuable experience in competitive environments.

• To qualify for the Silver Division Championships, each team must participate in a minimum of two sanctioned showcases.

• These events provide teams with exposure, development opportunities, and a pathway to higher divisions.

Gold & Platinum Divisions – Elite Competition

Gold and Platinum Divisions represent the highest levels of youth competition under the JCBA system, managed in partnership with P.H.A.S.E. 1 Youth League.

• Games will be hosted every third weekend at Munro College, a premier venue for elite-level play.

• Clubs will be required to enter their top U16 and U21 boys and girls teams into these divisions.

• Participation in at least two Gold or Platinum sanctioned showcases is required to qualify for the Gold & Platinum Championships.

• These divisions provide the highest exposure opportunities, attracting scouts, ranking evaluators, and coaches.

 

Rankings, Seedings & Eligibility

Only JCBA-sanctioned events (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum) will qualify players and teams for:

•  Official Player Rankings

•   Team Rankings

•   Championship Seedings

• This ensures fairness, accountability, and legitimacy across all divisions.
